The Courage to Keep Going
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”
Hey friends,
Let’s be real—this one hits hard. How often do we get caught up in the highs and lows of life, thinking that success is the endgame or that failure is the end of the road?
I know I’ve been there. When things go well, it’s easy to feel like you’ve “made it,” like you’ve reached the mountaintop and now everything should be smooth sailing. And when things fall apart? It’s tempting to believe that it’s all over, that you’ve somehow failed for good.
But Churchill’s words remind me that life isn’t about those individual moments. It’s about what happens after. It’s about having the courage to keep going, to pick yourself up whether you’re celebrating a win or recovering from a loss.
For me, this has been a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over again. There have been times when I’ve hit a milestone—like moving to Brazil, creating something I’m proud of, or taking a leap toward a dream—and thought, “Okay, I’ve done it. I’m good now.” But life doesn’t stop just because you’ve reached a goal. It keeps moving, and so do the challenges.
On the flip side, I’ve also had moments of failure that felt so heavy, so final, that I wasn’t sure how I’d find the strength to try again. But every time I’ve chosen to take one more step, no matter how small, I’ve discovered something new about myself: resilience, grit, and the ability to grow through the tough stuff.
And that’s the thing—success and failure are just moments. They don’t define us. What defines us is how we respond, how we keep moving forward, how we find the courage to continue even when it feels hard.
I’ve realized that courage doesn’t always look big or bold. Sometimes, it’s quiet. Sometimes, it’s getting out of bed when you’d rather hide. Sometimes, it’s sending that email, making that call, or taking that tiny first step toward something that scares you.
So here’s what I’m asking myself lately: How can I keep showing up? How can I find the courage to keep going, no matter what’s happening in my life? And you know what? Every time I choose to keep moving, I remind myself that the journey isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence.
What about you? What does courage look like in your life right now? Maybe it’s tackling a goal you’ve been putting off, or maybe it’s just giving yourself grace when things don’t go as planned. Whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it.
Thanks for being here with me today, for sharing this moment. Let’s keep showing up for ourselves, one step, one breath, one day at a time.
Until next time,
Marjoly 🌿
