Creating My Own Future, One Choice at a Time

Good day Friends,

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Peter Drucker

At first, I was like, “Oh great, another ‘inspirational’ quote that tells me to get my life together.” But the more I thought about it, the more it got under my skin in the best way. Because let’s be real—how often do we spend time worrying about what’s going to happen, as if life is just something that happens to us?

I know I’ve done it. I’ve caught myself thinking, “If only I knew where this was all going, I’d feel so much better.” But the truth is, nobody gets a crystal ball. The future isn’t something you predict—it’s something you build.

For me, creating my future has been messy. It’s looked like taking risks, trying new things, and failing more times than I care to admit. It’s looked like leaving behind paths that felt safe but didn’t feel right. Like moving to Brazil, for example. That wasn’t in any five-year plan—it was me deciding to create a life that feels like mine, even if I don’t know exactly where it’s leading.

And let’s talk about the daily grind of creating a future. For me, it’s not always big, dramatic moves. Sometimes, it’s sitting down and figuring out how to make a consistent income doing something that feels aligned with who I am. Other times, it’s taking care of my body so I can actually show up for the things I want to create.

But you know what I’m learning? It’s the little choices, the small, intentional actions, that shape the future. It’s saying, “Okay, maybe I don’t know what the next five years will look like, but I can make a choice today that moves me closer to the life I want.”

And here’s the fun part: when you decide to create your future, you realize how much power you actually have. Sure, there are things you can’t control (hello, life), but there’s so much you can do. You can choose to show up for yourself, even when it’s hard. You can choose to try again, even when it feels like nothing is working. You can choose to believe in a version of your life that doesn’t exist yet—and then take one step toward making it real.

It’s not about having all the answers or a perfect plan. Trust me, I don’t. It’s about deciding that you’re not just a passenger in your own life—you’re the one steering the ship.

So, let me ask you: What’s one small thing you can do today to create your future? It doesn’t have to be big. Maybe it’s sending that email you’ve been putting off. Or starting that thing you’ve been dreaming about but are too scared to try. Whatever it is, do it. Take the first step. Because the best way to predict your future? It’s to create it.

And if you’re feeling stuck, let’s talk about it. Drop me a comment or send me a message—I’d love to hear what you’re working on or dreaming about. We’re all building something, even if we can’t see the full picture yet.

Thanks for being here and for being part of this journey with me. Let’s keep creating futures that feel like ours.

Until next time,
Marjoly 🌿
