“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” – Albert Camus
Hey there,
So, the other day, I had this conversation that stuck with me. We were talking about resilience—the kind of strength you don’t even realize you have until life pushes you into a corner. And as we talked, this quote came up:
“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
– Albert Camus
Take a second to let that sink in.
It hit me so hard because, wow, isn’t that just life? We all go through those winters—times when nothing feels right, and you wonder if you’re ever going to feel like yourself again. Maybe it’s heartbreak, losing something—or someone—you thought you couldn’t live without, or just feeling stuck in a life that doesn’t look like what you imagined.
In those moments, it’s so tempting to wait for something outside of us to fix it. We think, ‘If I just get that job, or that relationship, or that break, then I’ll be okay.’ But the truth is, that invincible summer Camus talks about? It’s already inside us.
It’s the part of you that says, ‘Get up. Keep going.’ It’s that tiny spark that refuses to let you quit, even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.
I remember a time when I felt completely stuck—like winter had settled in for good. I kept waiting for something to change, for some magical sign to show me the way. But one day, it hit me: the change wasn’t going to come from out there. It had to start with me.
And that’s the thing. We spend so much time waiting for permission to feel okay, but the truth is, we already have everything we need to get through the hard stuff.
Your invincible summer? It might look like your ability to laugh even when life gets messy. Or how you show up for people you care about, even when you’re running on empty. Maybe it’s the quiet way you keep moving forward, one step at a time, even when you’re scared.
Winters come and go—it’s just part of life. But that summer inside you? That’s forever.
So, the next time life gets tough—and let’s be real, it will—take a second. Breathe. Remind yourself: ‘Within me lies an invincible summer.’ Because it does.
I’d love to hear what your invincible summer looks like. What keeps you going when life feels impossible? Share it with me in the comments or send me a message—I’m here for it.
Thanks for spending a little time with me today. You’ve got this.
Until next time,
Marjoly 🌿
