Excellence Is Built One Habit at a Time
Hey friends,
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
It’s one of those truths that sounds so simple but carries so much weight. It’s a reminder that excellence—whether in your work, relationships, or even in how you show up for yourself—isn’t about occasional bursts of effort. It’s about the small, consistent choices we make every single day.
For me, this has been a humbling realization. Like most people, I’ve had moments where I’ve gone all-in on something, thinking, “If I give this 100% effort right now, I’ll finally get where I want to be.” But then life happens, motivation fades, and I’m left wondering why I’m not seeing the results I hoped for.
This quote reminds me that it’s not about big, heroic efforts—it’s about building habits that align with the person you want to become.
Take self-care, for example. I’ve spent plenty of time trying to “fix” things overnight—whether it’s a new diet, a workout plan, or a journaling practice. But the real progress has come from the small, consistent actions: drinking enough water, moving my body every day, and giving myself grace when I slip up.
The same goes for bigger dreams. Whether it’s building something meaningful or working toward financial freedom, it’s not the grand gestures that make it happen. It’s the daily decisions to keep showing up, even when it feels hard or boring or like nothing’s happening.
Aristotle’s words remind us that we’re not defined by what we do once in a while. We’re defined by what we do consistently. And the beauty of that? It means we don’t have to be perfect. We just have to keep showing up.
So, here’s my question for you: What’s one habit you can start building today? It doesn’t have to be big or dramatic—just something small that moves you closer to the life you want to create. Maybe it’s setting aside five minutes to meditate, choosing healthier meals, or committing to one small step toward a long-term goal.
I’d love to hear about it. Let’s talk in the comments or message me—I want to know what excellence looks like for you and how you’re working to build it into your life.
Thanks for being here with me today, for sharing this moment of reflection. Here’s to creating habits that make us better, stronger, and more aligned with who we’re meant to be.
Until next time,
Marjoly 🌿
